Túpac Amaru (1545 – 24 September 1572) was the final monarch (Sapa Inca) of the Neo-Inca State which represented the final remnants of the Inca Empire. He is also the namesake of the internationally known Actor, Entrepreneur, Hip Hop Artist, and activist Tupac Shakur. Tupac Shakur’s mother was a member of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense. She crowned her son with the name Tupac to honor the spirit of the King whose resistance to European colonizers is celebrated by many indigenous peoples.
